Mrs. Nogan's Website

    Welcome!  My name is Mrs. Joyce Nogan and I am the High Ability teacher for 5th grade.  This will be my 21st year teaching 5th grade at East Side.  Prior to that, I taught 6th grade for one year at Edinburgh Middle School and for two years in Brown County Schools.  

     My husband, Jay, and I live in Brown County.  We have one daughter, Stephanie.  Stephanie and her husband, Justin, live outside of Cleveland, Ohio.  Stephanie and Justin have a daughter, Em, who just turned fourteen this summer.  She is our only grandchild and is such fun to be with!  Jay and I have lived in Indiana for almost 27 years.  Before that, we lived on the east coast, and moved here from Pennsylvania.  

    I really enjoy teaching 5th grade.  One of the main reasons is that I enjoy interacting and having conversations with kids.  I enjoy finding out about my students' interests, activities, and abilities, and enjoy sharing things about myself with them.  I strive to create a caring, community environment in my classroom.  I think character education is an important part of school and we, as a class, will talk about ways to work together, as well as how to succeed.

     My husband and I went to the UP of Michigan and Door County, Wisconsin this summer.  We spent time around Great Lakes Huron, Superior, and Michigan.  There were lots of beautiful views in any direction you looked.  In my free time, I enjoy getting together with friends, reading, taking photos, scrapbooking, and puttering around outside in the yard, and of course, hanging out with Em when I can.  I really enjoy working with kids and look forward to working with you this year!
