FALL 2017:

We are off to a GREAT start in Music Class this FALL !

During our first month of music classes, here are some of the concepts and songs that we have been working on in MUSIC CLASS:

moving to music
hearing and feeling the difference between meters of 2, 3 or 4 (ask your child about STRONG and WEAK beats!)
playing small percussion, drums, triangle, shekere, maracas
playing the Orff instruments (xylophones, metallophones)
hearing syllables in names or foods and being able to play a pattern on a drum based on the syllables in your own name ("What's Your Name?")
working with interactive whiteboard activities to 'find that beat' or see which things have a steady beat
learning about THE FLIGHT OF THE BUMBLEBEE by Rimsky-Korsakov.
learning about PETER AND THE WOLF by PROKOFIEV
hearing the difference between the various orchestral instruments and identifying which instrument plays the theme for each character in PETER AND THE WOLF
moving to the song called MARRAYILYIL with sticks and playing various rhythms as we move in a circle.
Playing a steady beat on sticks to the song JOHNNY BOKER
singing up and down the scale with solfege (Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Ti, Do and back down)
