WELCOME TO MUSIC AT ROYLE SCHOOL!

Our music room is a warm, inviting place where children will experience singing, dancing, drumming, xylophones, and so much more!

Below, you'll find a few pictures to show you what our room looks like this year!

Time for a drum circle!

It's time for a drum circle!

During our first 'week' back to school, the students are reminded of the classroom expectations in all of their 'specials' classes, including MUSIC! Here is a short video I made for the ROYLE MUSIC CLASSES to remind them of our music room rules and the Royle School Kids' Code. http://youtu.be/ndGFZ24JxWE

OCTOBER 2014: All of Miss Theisen's music classes have been having a great time learning dynamics and tempo markings! Two of their favorite 'videos' about these terms:

SEPTEMBER 2014: The 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be playing the RECORDER in music class. Please return the bottom of this form, along with $8, to purchase a white Yamaha recorder. Students should also bring a 1" (or smaller) binder with 20 plastic sheet protectors for their music. This will remain in the music room throughout 3rd, 4th and 5th grades and will hold their recorder music, drum ensembles, compositions, worksheets, and much more! If you need another copy of the RecorderLetter2014, click on the link.

Wednesday, August 27: We are off to a GREAT START in music classes at ROYLE this year! The students have entered the music portable to find a 'campfire' (a fake, battery-operated log!), and we all circled around it to sing and drum. The 4th and 5th grade classes have also been working on an aboriginal dance from Australia called Marrayilyil. If you'd like to hear the song, it's available in iTunes here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/marrayilyil-north-wind/id5610826?i=5610789 I learned the dance in a WORLD MUSIC DRUMMING class that I took this summer and will be incorporating a lot of that curriculum this year into the entire Royle Music program! The students are so excited to see all of the cool new instruments in our room.
