AP vs IB Diploma Courses:
AP (Advanced Placement) courses are typically one year courses; AP exams can be taken without taking an AP course. Depending on the student's AP exam score, universities across the globe recognize AP courses in the admission process.
IB (International Baccalaureate) Diploma courses are two year courses; taking an IB exam requires a student to complete the two year course. Depending on the student's IB grade, universities across the globe recognize IB courses in the admission process. Generally speaking, covering a course over two years is advantageous in that students are provided time to make connections of the material covered with information covered in other courses or real-world connections; thus, students are positioned to have greater breadth and depth of understanding of the subject and are more likely to retain the knowledge for a longer amount of time.
