Extended Essay

The Extended Essay is one of the core requirements of the IB Diploma. This 4,000-word research project is an opportunity for each student to do scholarly research on a topic of his or her choice. The research and writing process includes identifying interests and narrowing down topics, formulating an engaging research question, collecting and analyzing evidence, and arriving at a supported conclusion. Students meet with the Extended Essay Coordinators and an assigned advisor for help throughout the process. Please see the Timelines below for important calendar dates.
