To all students and parents, please know I am always happy to help with any / all questions you may have regarding AST's IB Diploma program. For those of you who accept the challenges that come with the "IB experience," you will likely be forever grateful for having taken that initial step.
To let you know a little bit about me: I have served as an educator for 36+ years as a Secondary School Science Teacher, District At-Risk Coordinator, Head of Alternative High School, Associate High School Principal, Secondary School Principal, High School Assistant Principal, Director of Student Services, and IB Diploma Program Coordinator. I have worked in the USA, Singapore, Ghana, Mexico, Egypt, India, and Honduras. Having the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles and responsibilities in very diverse cultures - each school having its unique methods and perspectives regarding what is important to focus on in order to be successful, I have learned much. It is my hope to draw from these experiences and multiple perspectives to help AST be the best school in its region.
On another, more interesting note, I want to end this message with a short "refresher" of the movie "The Wizard of Oz." You may remember, in this delightful story, we find a most wonderful life lesson; while taking your life's path focusing on Wisdom, Compassion, and Courage (as we saw with the three characters: the Scare Crow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion) you are provided opportunities to realize your individual potential. It's how we become the best versions of ourselves. When Dorothy saw this, everything became clear to her; when she came to this realization, she was able to "find her way home."
