Message from the IB Coordinator

To all current IB students, current 10th students deciding which IB courses they might wish to take, and to all parents, please know I am always happy to meet - to discuss any / all  topics, questions, or challenges you may have with topics related to AST's  IB Diploma program:  ddobbe@amschool.org

It is a true honor to serve as AST's IB Coordinator and Director of Student Services (grades 6-12). It is evident the school has a rich history, is a supportive and close knit community, has great teachers, and highly motivated students. The IB program can be extremely rewarding; for those of you who accept the challenges that come with the "IB experience," you will likely be forever grateful for having taken that initial step.

To let you know a little about me:

I have served as an educator for 33 years as a Science Teacher, District At-Risk Coordinator, Head of an Alternative High School, Assistant High School Principal, Secondary School Principal, Director of Professional Development, Director of Student Services, and IB Coordinator. I have worked in the USA, Singapore, Ghana, Egypt, and Honduras. 

Having the opportunity to serve in a variety of roles and responsibilities in very diverse cultures - each school having its unique methods and perspectives regarding what is important to focus on in order to be successful, I have learned much. It is my hope to draw from these experiences and multiple perspectives to help AST be the best school in it's region.

My advice to all IB Students is to reflect on the lessons highlighted in the movie "The Wizard of Oz."
