Timothy M. Millett Award

In November of 1986 Timothy M. Millett came to Pioneer's Schreiber Auditorium to watch a rehearsal run by one of our alumni (Ed Smit, '82) because a choreographer had quit giving only two days notice. From that November through September 1992, Tim was the choreographer for Sha Bop Shoppe, and an inspiration to everyone who met him. His gifts to us included real artistry, great skill, extreme patience and steadfast friendship. Tim died on Tuesday, November 17, 1992. His friends at Pioneer donated over $2,000 to provide an annual award in his name to a member of the Pioneer graduating class, also in Sha Bop Shoppe if that class exists, that has excelled in Musical Theater Performance chosen by the Pioneer Choral Director.

Tim’s great legacy is a level of professionalism that allowed him to bring out the best in those he worked with in a way that provided an insight into the human condition, an understanding of our common humanity and respect for all people.
