The class of 1984 initiated an annual award to celebrate the 18 years of leadership of the Pioneer High School A Cappella Choir by Robert Pratt on the occasion of his retirement from the Ann Arbor Public Schools. The award reads:
"Ann Arbor Pioneer High School
A Cappella Choir
Robert Pratt Award
Director, 1959 - 1978
Awarded to that senior member of the choir, nominated by their peers and confirmed by their director,
who has demonstrated outstanding musicianship, personal discipline, and concern for others."
We give this award not so much to recognize that member of the senior class who was the best of all of us, but to acknowledge those qualities in all of us that make the A Cappella Choir, and all fine musical groups, successful.
