Sha-Bop Shoppe

Founded: September 1978, as an extra-curricular group made up of outstanding singers from Huron and Pioneer High Schools with the option of academic credit. Sha-Bop Shoppe met outside the school day, for academic credit, with just Pioneer students, beginning in September of 1981. Sha-Bop Shoppe became a curricular ensemble in September 1989 which continued until the fall of 2001. In August 2001, Sha-Bop Shoppe was no longer offered as a class and again became an extra-curricular ensemble. Sha-Bop Shoppe was designed to present a look into the world of the singing, dancing, actor, with a course curriculum that was approved by the AAPS Curriculum Council in 1978. When Sha-Bop Shoppe was a class, the objective each semester was a 30 to 45 minute show that reflected the broad spectrum of the American popular music tradition. At that time, Sha-Bop Shoppe was a mixed ensemble, known for its performance of numbers from Broadway shows and choreographed presentations of popular songs.

Currently, Sha-Bop Shoppe is a student-run treble a cappella group.
