Course access begins on 8/18/2025 and live classes begin on 9/1/2025
The librarians want to help! Don't hesitate to reach out early and often when accessing resources for class projects, portfolio, etc.
The CSD Research Guide has been created by the Librarians and your facilitators as a great launching point for all EBP searches
We recommend all students follow these directions to ensure that their Google Scholar searches are linking out to Iwasaki resources, so that you know whether an article you're looking for is available on our virtual shelves!
If you want to learn more about best practices in scholarly searches, how to access our virtual library materials, or want advice on a specific class project, please book an appointment with the librarians here. They are well known for flexing their availability to meet the need of grad students in all timezones, so don't hesitate to ask for a slot that makes sense for you.
Take a look at the video recording of our most recent S@E focused Iwasaki Library Access and Research Skills sessions. Our librarian, Molly, speaks with students and staff about best practices in research skills specific to Emerson and SLP!
Last but not least, many students ask about access to library materials and spaces when they're not near Emerson College's physical location. See this FAQ on the topic for Southern California students, specifically. If you need support accessing libraries in other areas, let the Iwasaki team know and they'd be happy to help!
This is 'the home' of peer tutoring, but they also offer a variety of other services for academic support.
The Emerson Emporium is Emerson's bookstore - both for in person and online purchases.
We recommend that you wait until course access every term to purchase any recommended or required textbooks. This way you can read the syllabus for your section of your course and confirm that there have not been changes to the materials.
However, if you're wanting to get a head start proactively, here is a list of recently required and recommended Textbooks and Materials for all of our courses. This is updated annually by our faculty and operations team, so it should be pretty close with only minor edits for your class.
If you have more questions about textbooks, please email your facilitators - they know best for each of your courses!
Brought to you by the Parkinson Voice Project, Emerson College is awarded a grant that provides free SPEAK OUT training to all CSD graduate students. Parkinson Voice Project created this remarkable treatment to help patients preserve their ability to speak & communicate while minimizing swallowing issues. This approach helps people with Parkinson's Disease and other neurological disorders to speak with intent, thus improving their speech and communication.
As an Emerson College CSD student, you may elect to enroll in this 10-hour training which would be a wonderful addition to your clinical toolbox & resume! You may then have an opportunity to utilize the skills you have gained while in clinical placements or eventual employment settings, as this program is used widely across the country in tele practice, nursing homes, outpatient hospital clinics, and private practices.
If you have questions, please contact a Program Advisor (program_advising@emerson.edu), or connect with your course facilitator.
