Registration for Fall semester begins July 8th for returning students and July 15 for new students
Before your Initial Meeting
Contact your supervisor within 1 business day (they are expecting to hear from you) to schedule a first meeting (ie in person, via zoom, or over the phone)
Complete this Google Form (also embedded in the “Interview Notification Email” you received) with the initial meeting date.
Here are some considerations for your initial meeting
Who is/are your contact(s) at the site? (SLP? Rehab Manager? Onsite placement coordinator? Practice Owner?)
Are there any additional clearances you need to complete (e.g. fingerprinting, background checks, vaccines, etc.)?
Be ready to discuss your schedule and how that may align with your supervisor/site’s expectations (e.g. When do you have classes? When should you arrive at your placement? What are the absentee policies? When do you plan to be at placement the minimum required 3 days?)
Be ready to discuss Anderson Model of Supervision in relation to caseload expectations at the site and gradual increase of taking on clients over the semester.
Be prepared to discuss the official start and end date, per Emerson placement policies.
Be prepared to ask for a student manual, orientation packet, or a list of policies from the site that may detail dress code, standard operating procedures, attendance policies, etc.
Review the Placement Site in Digital Campus and review asynchronous content.
Review the community placement website, if available, to familiarize yourself with the site. Be prepared to ask questions about the community site and culture during your initial meeting.
Initial Meeting with your Supervisor
Following your Initial Meeting:
Be sure to send a thank you email within two business days to thank your interviewer/potential supervisor for the opportunity.
If you are accepted by the site, the student will move forward with the placement opportunity following the completion of all necessary paperwork (e.g., affiliation agreement and clearances).
If you are not selected by the site to move forward following the interview, the Placement Team will collect any feedback from the interview/site and determine next steps.
If you have any questions about the process at this point, please schedule a conversation with an SSA.
Throughout Your Placement:
Review Accruing Clock Hours resource.
