Registration for Spring semester begins November 4th for returning students and November 11th for new students.
The Student Success team works together as a collective to support you from the moment you deposit through when you walk across the stage at graduation. Our role can be broken down into three primary categories:
Academic Advisor - we are your main point of contact regarding key program policies and processes. Examples include CastleBranch, curriculum planning and registration.
Coach - we are here to discuss ongoing strategies for your success and to support you with navigating roadblocks during graduate school.
Liaison - we help connect you to the broader Emerson College community by sharing information about upcoming events and opportunities to grow your network. We’re also well-equipped to direct you to the appropriate resources and on-campus offices which support remote students.
Following your deposit, you will transition from working with the Admissions team, to partnering with the Student Success team to begin preparing for your journey at Emerson. During your onboarding process, you’ll be invited to explore any goals or intentions you want to set for yourself and evaluate what it will take to reach them. Throughout your time in the program, you’ll have the chance to work with multiple members of the Student Success team and it’s possible that your designated SSA will change. All SSAs receive the same training and are equally prepared to partner with you.
If you haven’t already, save the Student Success team’s contact information in your phone.

After being launched well into the Speech@Emerson community by our Admissions Counselors and SSAs, the next level of support available to all students is a S@E Program Director. The Program Directors are licensed and certified Speech Language Pathologists who :
Answer questions and provide insights into the SLP field
Support your clinical education and placement process, particularly navigating the intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships in your placement site.
Provide an additional layer of academic advising or coaching as needed in collaboration with the Student Success Advisors.
At a minimum, students meet with a Program Director at least once a semester, beginning in the semester of their first community placement. In that meeting, we check in on academic progress and review progress on Portfolio requirements.
Most students meet the Program Directors at Immersion and build relationships with them thereafter. But on some occasions, both Student Success Advisors and Program Directors may be present for conversations with students to provide further individualized support.

Face to Face Meetings - scheduled via email or within the Digital Campus calendar (attached to your Orientation course)
The Emerson Placement Team is made up of a group of Emerson Directors and also Placement Specialists. The Placement Team searches and secures all clinical placement sites for students throughout the program. Directors speak directly to supervisors to ensure a quality placement, conduct site visits, and manage any questions or concerns once the placement begins. Your Placement Team and Emerson Directors will carefully monitor each of your placements to ensure they meet Emerson's high academic standards.
The Placement Team will contact you once your placement site for the upcoming semester has been secured. If you have any questions or would like an update regarding your upcoming placement, please contact your Student Success Advisor.
