Students on this page serve either as a Student Ambassador, a Peer Tutor, or both. We're so glad that they are members of our community! Thank you, students, for your ongoing service to Communication Sciences and Disorders at Emerson by embodying academic excellence and supporting belonging in our department.
I am originally from Philadelphia, PA and have lived in San Diego since 2008 upon graduating from my undergraduate degree at Virginia Tech. I am a mother to two elementary school aged children and have been married to my husband since 2011. I spent 12 years in the engineering industry as a Technical Writer and in the marketing industry as a project manager, while also working as a yoga instructor in the evenings. My decision to become a Speech Language Pathologist had been on my mind for many years and I decided to finally turn my dream into a plan during the Covid years when I was home with my very young children. In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, traveling, and doing yoga.
Hi everybody! My name is Bri, and I am on the 9 term track. I live in sunny southern California with my amazing partner and our dog. I have been working full-time throughout the program as a medical assistant and part-time as a peer tutor. I was previously involved in neuroscience research after receiving my bachelor's of science in cognitive neuroscience and decided to change careers after realizing I wanted to be on the side of treatment. I love everything about speech whether it is from an early childhood development perspective, to the complex neurological disorders that we learn about later in the program. Feel free to reach out with any questions that you might have, or schedule a peer tutoring session!
Hi! I'm Riley and I'm from Duluth, Minnesota. I graduated from University of Wisconsin - Superior majoring in Psychology and minoring in Behavioral Neuroscience. While working in the field, I had the opportunity to collaborate with SLPs, fell in love with the field and started at Speech@Emerson shortly after. I am on the 5-term track and in my free time I love spending time with friends and family, going to the gym, going on runs, and taking naps with my dog.
My name is Alivia, a graduate student in the 5-term track at Emerson College, pursuing my Master’s in Communication Sciences and Disorders. I’ve always been passionate about understanding people and helping them find their voice, both literally and figuratively. In my (limited) spare time, I enjoy family time, reading, yoga and anything outdoors. With a background in psychology and at-risk youth, as well as experience working with children across school and private practice settings, I value the opportunity to help children grow and learn. I’m deeply interested in phonological processes, fluency and motor speech disorders. As a student, I value collaboration, curiosity, and community above all else. As a future SLP, I hope to bring compassion, clinical excellence, and human connection to every client I serve. I love connecting with others in the field, so please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’m always happy to share experiences and support fellow students on their journey!
I am based in California and am currently on the 5 term track. I attained my B.A. in COMD at California State University, Fullerton in 2022 and have been working as a SLPA at a private practice since. I have worked with clients and students across a wide variety of ages, backgrounds, and diagnoses. In my practice, I seek to build a comfortable environment where people feel that they are able to express themselves and be seen without judgement.
Hi everyone! My name is Ian, and I'm from Paw Paw, Michigan. I am in the 5 term track in the Speech@Emerson Program. After completing my undergraduate degree in Psychology and Sociology, I worked with the pediatric population in various roles. My path was influenced by my passion for working with and supporting kiddos, as well as my own lived experiences as a person who stutters. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, puzzling, listening to music, and anything outdoors!
Hi, I’m Ese! I’m a graduate student in the Speech@Emerson program on the 9-term track. I transitioned from a general communications background to pursuing my MS in Communication Sciences and Disorders. The Speech@Emerson program has supported me since I was a prospective student, which has made a meaningful difference in my journey. I have a strong interest in supporting the pediatric population, particularly individuals with complex communication needs. I’m especially interested in AAC, autism and social communication. Outside of the program, I enjoy spending time with my loved ones, trying new activities/hobbies and traveling. As a future SLP, I strive to be a compassionate clinician who advocates for my clients and supports them in reaching their fullest potential.
I’m an energetic, organized, and slightly book-obsessed graduate student on the 5-term track, living in Maine. I’m a very social person (definitely a bit of a yapper!), which is part of what drew me to this field — I love helping people communicate and feel more confident and fulfilled in their everyday lives. I thrive on routines and love a thorough color-coded, time-blocked Google Calendar. Outside of school, I recharge by being outdoors. Depending on the season, you will find me hiking, camping, hammocking, swimming, gardening, snowboarding, and walking my dog (rain, snow, or shine!). When it’s time to focus, you can find me in a cozy coffee shop or quiet library (and if I’m traveling, visiting a local library is a must). I’ve always been drawn to pediatrics from my experience as an SLPA, but I’ve also discovered a love for working with adults and hope to incorporate both into my future career. No matter the setting, I value creativity and strong relationships in therapy and enjoy making sessions engaging and meaningful. Emerson is helping me grow into a well-rounded, confident clinician and giving me the tools and experiences I need to turn these goals into a reality.
My name is Olivia, and I am ending my 4th term at Emerson College in the 5 Term track. I have a strong passion for supporting individuals in finding their voice and communicating with confidence. As I progress through the program, I have gained valuable academic and clinical experiences that continue to shape my growth as both a student and a future speech-language pathologist. I value empathy, collaboration, and lifelong learning, and I am especially interested in building meaningful connections with clients, families, and peers. I strive to approach my work with curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to evidence-based practice. I enjoy being involved in the Emerson community and supporting others along their journey, and I welcome opportunities to connect with prospective or current students who have questions or are looking to build relationships.
I am the mom of two young children who keep me very busy! I made the decision to go back to school after I learned about the field of speech-language pathology in my mid-thirties. Prior to Speech@Emerson, I sang a lot of opera (my bachelor's and my other master's are both in voice) and worked in hospitality leadership at a NYC-based restaurant group. I am still passionate about voice, and would love to bring my experience to the clinical setting after graduation by using evidence-based practices to help people with voice difficulties. But, to be honest, there are so many exciting aspects of this field, it is hard to know for sure where I want to be.
