Millions of people across Sub- Saharan Africa can access clean water and healthy diet following adoption of low cost technologies from China, UNEP said on Tuesday

to initiate transformative projects on management of transboundary waters, rain water harvesting and adaptation to droughts.

Monem revealed that phase two of UNEP-China partnership covering 2014-2017 will involve the implementation of six projects on water resources protection and dry land farming in river Nile and Lake Tanganyika basin.

South- South cooperation

Monem noted that China has provided technologies, finances and expertise to promote ecological protection in Africa through South- South cooperation.

African countries should invest in technologies and innovations that promote environmental sustainability.
