[Translator’s note: The original 16th century text had very few stage directions. All bracketed directions are added by the translator. Feel free to ignore them if you have better ideas. – TF]
*The play, originally signed only with the initials M.G.S.M., is frequently misattributed to Giovanni Simone Martini. However, a 1606 edition of da Morro's collected works includes this play. The root of the mistake appears be in Allacci's Drammaturgia, a listing of plays wherein it is very easy to misread the author of Bragatto.
