Beware Visions and Revelations

Many people over the years have claimed that they have had visions or revelations. A vision is a revelation, but not all revelations come in the form of visions. You can have a revelation without having a vision. However one has to be careful of such claims, even if the person claims the vision or revelation came from God or Jesus. Some claims of visions and revelations are a lie, the person has had no such vision or revelation. Others are however not a lie, the person has had a vision or revelation.

But this does not mean these visions or revelations have come from Jesus Christ or God or an angel of light. Some do come from Jesus, however the majority of visions or revelations are not from Jesus Christ or God or an angel of light.

2Corinthians 11:14 And no marvel, for Satan himself is being transfigured into a messenger of light. "

That is Satan himself can appear as a messenger of light. Satan and his evil spirit beings can give visions to people. These visions appear to come from Jesus or God, from the light, but actually they come from the darkness, Satan and his demons. How can you tell that a report of a vision or a revelation, that is on the internet or elsewhere is from the light or from the darkness?

I would be careful of any report from a person that is not a believer in the salvation of all mankind. These visions or revelations that they are getting could be coming from the darkness. Any vision of people burning in hell is totally untrue of course. That does not always mean that the vision is not true. Some visions are clearly not true, but other can be.

In the past when I was not a believer in this salvation, I read an article about a revelation, that a person had to build a church. The article was done after the church was built. I do think the person did actually have the revelation. However the church promotes hell, as the place unbelievers go. Thus the person was not a true believer in Christ. While the vision was correct, it did not mean it came from the light. One way that Satan and his demons deceive people is by giving them visions that later are actually fulfilled.

Understanding the vision or revelation: The next problem is the understanding of what has been received. While one may have had a true vision or revelation from Jesus himself, that does not mean they have understood it correctly. I myself have had revelations that I have not understood, only gaining understanding later, when more is revealed. The other problem is the person may understand the revelation correctly, but not know correctly how it is to come about. For instance a person may have a revelation about the destruction of the city of Jerusalem. While the city will be destroyed, the person could got it wrong about how it will be destroyed.

You yourself have to work out if you think the vision or revelation is from the light or the darkness and if it has been understood correctly.
