Freewill?

By Mark Farquharson

Before you are Born:

Someone else decides when you will be born, what year, what month. You can not chose your parents, if you have brothers or sisters, if your mother dies in child birth; If you parents are together, if it was a one nightstand. You have no say over the country you are born in, the race you are, and your sex.

Shortly after your born:

You have no say over if your parents give you away or keep you. If you are right handed or left handed. If you are born blind or can see, if you are born deaf or can hear. If you are born with a health problem, or not.

From time you are Born:

From the time you are born you are not free. Everything you do from when you get up, when you eat, when you go to the toilet, when you sleep, you have no control over. As you grow you gain more control, greater freedoms. However you are never completely free. Your parents decide on what school you go to, make you lunch or give you money. Decide if you walk or cycle or go by bus or get a lift into school.

Are you free after you leave school and your parents behind?

Your choices about career path and study, mean that you are limited down as to the type of job you go after. This effects you take home pay, how much money you have to spend or save.

There are a load of things in your life you have no control over what so ever. You don’t chose to be in an accident, that could change your life. Most people are not in positions where they can change laws, but everyday laws effect your life, like taxes, road rules, age limits. The age you can drive, or drink or get married are all set down in laws. Breaking the law can get you a fine or time in jail, if you are caught. You also have no control over other peoples actions that can also influence your life and you decisions.

Influences:

Every decision that you make is influence by outside facts. The movies you watch are influenced by the things you like and dislike. The type of car you can afford is influenced by the money you have, and the decision to buy a car is influence by, if you can afford it. If you don’t have a car and you need to take the bus or train to work, this is influence by where each one stops, and how close you live to a stop. The need to take transport is influence by how far away the job is. You need to work is influence by how much money you have, and how much money you need.

Most people can not chose who they work for, or what hours they do, or how much money they get. While you may get to chose your friends this is limit to the people that come in to you life, you can’t chose to be friends with someone you have never been in contact with. Similarly you can’t be friends with someone who is long dead, you may think it would have been nice, but it is impossible.

To have freewill not only must you be able to make decisions, you have to be able to do it freely. You can make NO decision freely, free from outside influences. Yes you can make choices but you do not have freewill.

In fact the bible tells us it is God who moulds us:

We are the clay and he is the potter, he is the one who moulds us into who we are, and what we become.

Romans 9:21 Has not the potter the right over the clay, out of the same kneading to make one vessel, indeed, for honor, yet one for dishonor? {CLV}

He is the one who decides if we are honourable or dishonourable.

God is the biggest outside influence, how can you have freewill? It would require that you could not be influence by God, that he could not cause you to act.

Any man who God influences can not be free. God influences all mankind.

Romans 9:

18 Consequently, then, to whom He will, He is merciful, yet whom He will, He is hardening.

19 You will be protesting to me, then, "Why, then, is He still blaming? for who has withstood His intention?"

20 O man! who are you, to be sure, who are answering again to God? That which is molded will not protest to the molder, "Why do you make me thus?"

21 Or has not the potter the right over the clay, out of the same kneading to make one vessel, indeed, for honor, yet one for dishonor? {CLV}

God is the one moulding us, and we are not to protest.

Psalms 147:5 Great is our Lord and vast in vigor; As to His understanding, there is no enumeration of it." {CLV}

God is all knowing, when He moulds something, He knows what it will do, and He moulds it to do just exactly that. How can He mould us, Without mould us to do exactly what He knows we will do? How can He mould us, without moulding us to do exactly what He has set out for us?

God will Accomplish what is Marked out For You:

Job 23:12-14 From the instruction of His lips I do not remove myself; I have secluded in my bosom the sayings of His mouth. Yet He is One, and who can turn Him back? What His soul has yearned for He shall do. For He shall accomplish what is marked out for me, And many other plans are with Him like these.

Here Job states that God will accomplish what has been marked out for him. That is God has beforehand, marked out certain things in the life of Job, that God will accomplish. There is nothing Job can do to change what is marked out, or stop God from accomplishing the things that have been marked out.

God Has Decided Your Days:

Psalms 139:16-17 Your eyes saw my embryo, And my days, all of them were written upon Your scroll; The days were formed When there was not one of them." How precious are Your thoughts to me, O El {God}, How plentiful are their sums:" {CLV}

Job 14:1-6 A human, born of a woman, Is short of days and surfeited with disturbance. He comes forth like a blossom and is snipped off; He races away like a shadow and does not stand. Indeed, it is on one like this that You focus Your eyes, And You bring me into judgment before You. Who can bring what is clean from the unclean? No one. Since his days are decided, The number of his months are set by You, And You have made his statutory time, Which he cannot surpass, Be heedless of him, and forbear, Until, like a hireling, he may fill in his days. {CLV}

You can not chose to live forever on this earth, your days are short, wether you live to 100 years old or die before your 20. Indeed it is God who has set your days, which you can not pass, you can not decided to live long than the days you have been given.

The biggest choice:

Does God chose you, or do you chose God? Do you decide between Heaven and Hell?

I do hope that you do now know there is no such thing as freewill. But if there is no such thing as freewill, why do most churches teach it? This because they do not know the truth when it comes to the plan of God. They reason, that there must be a choice when it comes to salvation, because they think that a burning hell exists, or annihilation. They reason that since God does not play favourites, then there most be a choice. It is taught by them that you have to decide between heaven or hell. There is no burning hell, or annihilation of anyone.

1 Timothy 2:3-4 for this is ideal and welcome in the sight of our Saviour, God, Who wills that all mankind be saved and come into a realization of the truth. {CLV}

God wills that ALL mankind be SAVED, and he is operating all according to this will, you will be saved you have no choice.

As explained in other articles, there is no Hell, so there is no choice between heaven and Hell. The lake of fire is not the hell that most churches teach. Fire can be used for purifying as in gold. The fire is a spiritual purifying fire. All are to be saved, reconciled to Christ {Colossians 1:15-20, & many others}. For more Refer to my article: All Mankind Saved

How can you chose God if you DO NOT know him?:

“Millions of people die when they are children, never getting to know God. Churches have always had problems with this issue, what happens to them? Loads more die with out ever having heard the message of Christ. What happens to these people? Was it surely up to them to find out? You have to realise that in the early days of the church, the message had not reached the whole world. The message start in Israel, almost 2000 years ago. What about the rest of the world? Before Christ, God had picked mainly Israel to here his voice, again what about the rest of the world? Before Israel God pick a much smaller group. He only picked a few people on the whole planet.”

I ask again: How can you chose God if you DO NOT know him?

However what if you find out about him, do you chose then?:

Billions don’t get the chance to find out, but you do, you think, you still chose? Your parents decide if you go to Sunday school. You don’t get to decide how religious your parents are. You don’t decide when you first find out about Christianity, or God. You may hear about him from a friend or someone at work, or your parents, or your brother. Then again a minister may knock at you door.

However the god of Christianity is not the real God. The god of Christianity is a monster, and if you follow him, you are not a follower of the real God. You don’t know the real God. The real God loves everybody, He is not going to send anyone to a burning hell or annihilate them.

God has a plan, and in this plan there is an order as to when someone is made alive. This is when they are made immortal, and have new bodies, however things start much earlier. It starts when you learn about the real God. However you did not decide when you would find out. It is a total impossibility to decide ahead of time when you will find out about something, you know nothing about and have never even heard of.

You find out from someone who is heralding, and they are heralding because they have been commissioned.

Romans 10:14-15 How, then, should they be invoking One in Whom they do not believe? Yet how should they be believing One of Whom they do not hear? Yet how should they be hearing apart from one heralding? Yet how should they be heralding if ever they should not be commissioned? {CLV}

It is God who chooses you, and decides when you will find out.

Ephesians 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, Who blesses us with every spiritual blessing among the celestials, in Christ, according as He chooses us in Him before the disruption of the world, we to be holy and flawless in His sight, in love designating us beforehand for the place of a son for Him through Christ Jesus; in accord with the delight of His will, {CLV}

The ones who are chosen are designated beforehand and are pre-expectant in the Christ. This is also known as predestination.

Ephesians 1:11-12 Whom our lot was cast also, being designated beforehand according to the purpose of the One Who is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will, that we should be for the laud of His glory, who are pre-expectant in the Christ. {CLV}

You have no choice.

John 6:44 No one can come to Me if ever the Father Who sends Me should not be drawing him. And I shall be raising him in the last day. {CLV}

If the Father {God}, does not draw the person, then they can not come to Christ.

Romans 3:11 "Not one is seeking God" {CLV}

That is right not one is seeking God, it is God who is seeking, he is the one who sends the herald to tell the person.

The Will of God

Daniel 4:35 All abiding on the earth are reckoned as naught: According to His will is He doing in the army of the heavens and with those abiding on the earth. And no one will actually clap with his hands and say to Him, "What doest Thou? CLV

God is acting according to his pleasure, not the will of man.

Ephesians 1:11 [He] is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will. {CLV}

God is operating all in accord with the counsel of His will. No one can resist the will of God.

Proverbs 19:21 Many are the designs in a man's heart, Yet the counsel of Yahweh, it shall stand firm." {CLV}

Acts 17:24-26 The God Who makes the world and all that is in it, He, the Lord inherent of heaven and earth, is not dwelling in temples made by hands, neither is He attended by human hands, as if requiring anything, since He Himself gives to all life and breath and all." Besides, He makes out of one every nation of mankind, to be dwelling on all the surface of the earth, specifying the setting of the seasons and the bounds of their dwelling, for them to be seeking God {CLV}

Other passages:

Psalms 37:22-24 For those being blessed by Him shall tenant the land, Yet those being maledicted {cursed} by Him shall be cut off." By Yahweh are the steps of a master prepared, And in His way shall he delight." Though he should fall, he shall not be cast forth, For Yahweh is supporting his hand." {CLV}

Proverbs 16:9 A man's heart devises his way, Yet Yahweh establishes his steps." {CLV}

Proverbs 20:24 A master's steps are directed by Yahweh; How then can a man understand his way?

Jude 1:4 For some men slip in who long ago have been written beforehand for this judgment; irreverent, bartering the grace of our God for wantonness, and disowning our only Owner and Lord, Jesus Christ.

Romans 12:3 For I am saying, through the grace which is given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to be overweening, beyond what your disposition must be, but to be of a sane disposition, as God parts to each the measure of faith. {CLV}

Romans 9:15 For to Moses He is saying, "I shall be merciful to whomever I may be merciful, and I shall be pitying whomever I may be pitying."

16 Consequently, then, it is not of him who is willing, nor of him who is racing, but of God, the Merciful.

17 For the scripture is saying to Pharaoh that "For this selfsame thing I rouse you up, so that I should be displaying in you My power, and so that My name should be published in the entire earth."

21 Or has not the potter the right over the clay, out of the same kneading to make one vessel, indeed, for honor, yet one for dishonor?

22 Now if God, wanting to display His indignation and to make His powerful doings known, carries, with much patience, the vessels of indignation, adapted for destruction,

23 it is that He should also be making known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He makes ready before for glory --

24 us, whom He calls also, not only out of the Jews, but out of the nations also. {CLV}

Revelation 20:15 And if anyone was not found written in the scroll of life, he was cast into the lake of fire." {CLV}
