Clover Springs

1½ $

This is an established first come first served campground southwest of Tooele There are 10 sites, but most aren't real level. There are a few sites with shade trees, downhill from the entrance. Site 4, shown here, was nice with enough room for about 5 tents. But most are just in Junipers and Sage Brush. The cost to camp is $12 per site for up to 8 people and two vehicles or $6 if you have a federal pass or $45 for the reservable group site. The web site http://publiclands.org/explore/site.php?id=1371 says the season is May to November. I don't know if you can get in otherwise. There is a small spring and a creek and an area for horses, but no potable water.

To get there go west on I80 and take exit 99 and head south on highway 36 and go 15 miles past Tooele and turn right on highway 199 (there is a sign there pointing to Clover Springs). Go south for 8 miles through the town of Rush Valley and it will be on the left.
