Adams Canyon

¼ hr + 1 hr hike

This is a gorgeous canyon with a nice waterfall at the top of the canyon about 3 miles up. Backpack to one of several small camping areas along the way. This is a very busy canyon and you need to get there early to get a spot. There are a couple small areas to camp at across the river to the south about ½ mile in. But, in the spring you will get wet getting across. There is another nice area on the left by a big rock about a mile or so in for up to eight people. Another 10 minutes up the trail there is a small trail that goes off to the left (before the bridge) up to a more secluded spot, similar in size. A few more minutes up the main trail you cross a bridge and right after that is a larger area for a dozen or so people.

To get to Adam’s Canyon go north on highway 89 past the Layton water tower at Oak Hills Drive and take the first right and right again on the frontage road until you see a parking lot on your left just below a retention pond. Park there and head up the trail just north of the enclosed pond. The trail splits a couple times but end up in the same place. Caution, vandalism has occurred in the parking lot.

When hiking up to the waterfall it is easy to get on the wrong trail further up past the last camping area. You need to look for a ravine going up to the right and then another right further up the canyon by a cliff. In the spring it is hard to see the waterfall without getting wet.
