Sound Box

Saint Paul, 16 October 2005

Hear piano strings struck by felt hammers

Listen to a cello offer salve to our grief

Anoint ghostly tones to ally our hunger

Delight in the sounds we hear

When we purse our mouths

Eavesdrop on those of incidental purpose

Imagine promenading to a Strauss waltz

Deconstruct into darting particles

Conjugate each a bouncing ball

Then when your turn comes up

Make that sound box sing

Know the plunk of a stone

Breaks an undisturbed pool
