Two Dolphins

Bozeman, 24 January 1980

for Marcia

Today my eyes made love to you

Massive steel gray primal Eskimo blubber

Thrashing in human-form enraptured

Stirring climax in a fishbowl sphere

I caressed the temple of your steel

Straddled your twisting torso

You propelled us using the stroke of your fluke

In an explosion of bubbles

I stuffed my hand in the slit below your fluke

Moved my hand across your brow. We cried

then burst through the surface to swallow

the flapping bait
