Namesake Water is a collection of poems that embody the impressions and emotions experienced in the presence of water. Bodies of water have some of the most poetic names I have encountered. Living in Montana circa 1980, I hiked to No Man's Lake -- a clear mountain lake full of thin, 6-inch rainbow trout who nosed up to the corn I dangled, but dismissed it as chump food. I wrote a poem called No Man's Lake that is in my collection Montana Poems. I am amused how often I find myself vigorous and present at No Man's Lake. No Man's Lake had the last laugh -- it was full of starved rainbows too high-brow to take blue-collar bait.
