Observing: ISS Transit of Orion’s Belt - April 8, 2019

Three members of the BAS met at Robinwood Park in Bartlesville, OK, to view the transit of the International Space Station across Orion’s belt. The observing was a little challenging with a slight haze from pasture burn off smoke and slightly cloudy. The view of the belt was observable with the naked eye and definitely observable with binoculars or under slight magnification from a camera with telephoto lens. One of the main takeaways was that you can still view astronomical events under the ever increasing Bartlesville Light dome. Below is a picture of the transit and of course one of the beautiful crescent moon.

Thanks to John Grismore for setting up this event (and everyone involved with NASA). See you next time!
