Jan Spooner nee Tucker remembers Oystermouth School

Ostermouth

‘I was at Oystermouth School between Sept 1963 and July 1967 and this page has brought back many happy memories.

I remember when the school bell went missing!! It was the time when The Swans were playing in the Football Final for the cup, in Liverpool, I think it was. There were ructions and everybody had to stay in for detention every night after school until it was returned. When it did reappear, it was painted black with a swan painted on it.!!!! Perhaps that’s why it later sounded cracked.

I remember Miss Morgan, history, what a lovely lady. She would sit on the top of the front desk, her feet on the chair and talk her history stories to us. But, she was very short, and used to have trouble getting on the desk comfortably. She'd lift one leg up, get her bottom comfy and then swing the other leg. She always wore long bloomers, the silky shiny type!! Just as well. Bless her!'

Thanks for the memories
