Uniform Reminders

Golf shirt must be worn under official Dazzle Jacket and the SJDB cardigan (long and short sleeve).

Only the rugby sweater or ¼ zipped sweater are allowed (non-uniform sweater not allowed) No golf shirt is required under these sweaters.

• All black shoes (no coloured laces or white trim). UGG boots, open toe and open black shoes are not permitted.
• All golf shirts must be all white with no writing or drawings.
• No black yoga pants, track pants or black jeans permitted. Only DGN’s dress pants with SJDB Logo permitted.
• Any additional solid white or black undershirt must be tucked in and not protrude at the sleeves or beyond golf shirt (no stripes or other designs must be visible).
• Hats/caps are not to be worn in the school building.

Spirit Days & Civvies Days

On days designated as Spirit Days, students may wear at least one article of Spirit Wear (a school item with the school or athletic logo purchased from the school) in addition to any other civvies clothing.

When a “civvies day” is scheduled, students are not expected to be in full uniform.

Attendance

Warning bell rings at 8:15 a.m. School begins at 8:20 a.m.

Parents/Guardians are asked to please ensure that the school is informed if your child will be absent from school or late to school. Call the school at the new Attendance line 905 553-0317.

Early Leaves

If a student must leave school (e.g. medical appointment), the student is to come to the Main Office before school begins to obtain an early leave slip. The student must present a note from his/her parent(s)/Guardian(s) explaining the necessity for the early leave to the Attendance Secretary.

Family Vacations

Family vacations should be scheduled during the school’s official vacation times. In instances where students are absent from school for an extended vacation during instructional time:

• Parents are required to obtain from the attendance secretary an Extended Vacation Form and have their teachers fill in two weeks before the vacation.
• In all instances, the students take responsibility for keeping up with their Academic work.

Examination Policy

Any student who misses an examination will receive a mark of Zero for the exam portion of the final mark. A legitimate absence is only permitted for death in the immediate family or student illness on the day of the examination verified by an appropriate medical note. Students will write a course examination at a later date to be determined by Administration.

We are a Scent Free School

This is a reminder to all students, staff and visitors that St. Jean de Brebeuf CHS is a scent free school. We have staff and students who are allergic to different scents. It becomes a health concern from members of the community when we do not comply. Let’s all work together to make Brebeuf a safe environment.

Help Keep a Clean Environment

Student who visit the local plazas during lunch are reminded to always dispose all waste in the appropriate garbage cans and recycling bins. Please be respectful of the environment.

Lockers

All lockers are the property of St. Jean de Brebeuf CHS. It is expected that students will treat them with respect. If lockers are damaged or defaced, students are to inform the office and the student responsible will be asked to pay for the damages or clean the lockers.

Students are advised not to share their locker combinations with others. Locker assignments, combinations, and changes will be handled through the main office.

SMOKE FREE - Inside, outside, everywhere

This is a reminder to all members of our community that St. Jean de Brebeuf continues to be a smoke-free campus. Smoking is not allowed anywhere around the school as well as the Community Centre. Students caught smoking or in possession of tobacco risk getting a fine of over $300. E-cigarettes are not permitted on school property.

HONOUR ROLL INFORMATION

As of July 1, 2015, Honour Roll is calculated as an average of 79.5% of all courses taken during the school year, including those taken in the previous summer, and including all courses delivered by YCDSB and taught by YCDSB teachers through regular day school, summer school, night school, Saturday school, e-learning, or international programmes.
