LEAVES WITHOUT PAY
Leave of absence without pay is applied in the following situations:
AUTHORIZED LEAVE OF ABSENCE WITHOUT PAY
Leave of absence without pay is not normally granted. In exceptional cases, when an employee has exhausted the annual leave entitlement and unforeseen circumstances require additional leave to be taken, a maximum of two (2) or three (3) days leave without pay may be granted. This is determined on a case-by-case basis. Application for unpaid leave must be approved by HOD in advance and follows the same procedure as applying for annual leave.
During the period of the unpaid leave, salary and all work-related allowances are not paid to the employee.
UNAUTHORIZED LEAVE OF ABSENCE WITHOUT PAY
An employee who takes time off without prior approval or returns late from an authorized leave of absence, shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination from employment unless the employee can verify that such absence was beyond the employee’s control.
An employee who does not report to his/her work after three (3) days have elapsed from the designated date of reporting back, shall lead to a disciplinary action.
Management has full right to terminate his/her employment after maximum five (5) days of uninformed absence in a row without any justification.
