Assess the following parts: pump, pan, spider, float, damper, roof jack support, water line, water valve, electrical, pads, motor, fan.
Parts will be repaired or replaced as needed in accordance with manufacturer instructions.
Aspen pads can be soaked in soapy water to remove dirt.
Clean louvers in the cooler cabinet when you clean or change pads.
Replace the pads when they become non-absorbent, thin or loaded with scale and entrained dirt.
If the cooler has two pumps, one is a sump pump.
The sump pump drains the sump every 5 to 10 minutes of cooler operation.
If there is noticeable dirt on the blower’s blades, clean the blades and blower with brush or air duster.
Check the amp draw for the motor and make sure it is within the range listed on the motor data tag.
Also, check the capacitance on the capacitor to ensure it is still reading within the listed percentage range for the listed amount of farads.
Lubricate blower bearings.
The bearings should have a small reservoir cup on top of the bearing.
Lift the cap and fill to the top.
Lubricate motor if it does not have sealed bearings.
Clean the holes in the drip trough that distributes the water to the pads.
Replace drip lines if needed.
Clean the reservoir to remove dirt, scale, and biological matter.
Pay particular attention to the intake area of the circulating pump during cleaning.
Debris can get caught in the pump impeller and stop the pump.
Check the float assembly for positive shutoff of water when the sump reaches its level.
Repair leaks and replace a leaky float valve.
Any additional repairs or parts replacement will be made as necessary in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
Ensure all components function properly.
Check fan belt tension.
The belt should not have more than 1" of movement before it gets tight.
If the belt is worn, or if it visibly damaged, or it is visibly sagging, then it is time to replace it.
After belt replacement, re-tension it so it has no more than 1" of play.
The adjusters are part of the swivel motor mount on the blower housing.
Educate client on proper operation of cooler.
Discuss winterization of cooler.
