Every January, we celebrate School Board Recognition Month to acknowledge the contributions made by our local school board members. Westwood Regional Board of Education is one of New Jersey’s 580 local boards of education who play an essential role in shaping our students’ lives as they govern 580 school districts which, in turn, operate 2,500 public schools and provide educational services to nearly 1.4 million children.
Local school boards are elected by their constituents as the voice of the community in setting goals for their schools. Board members serve without compensation, are required to attend training programs, and dedicate extraordinary amounts of time to their communities.
For all this, and more, we thank our Board of Education for their work and dedication to all the students of Westwood Regional School District.

BOE MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
In January 2021, the Board of Education held two public meetings as highlighted below:
January 7: At the annual reorganization meeting, the Board swore in its newly elected Board members Maureen Colombo, Michael Pontillo, and Stacey Price.
Additionally, Matthew Perrapato was selected to serve as Board President and Joseph Abou-Daoud as Vice President for 2021. Congratulations!

At the January 21, 2021 meeting, the Board approved the school calendar for 2021-2022. The calendar is attached for your reference and can be found on the district website, HERE, along with the NJ Department of Education list of religious holidays permitting student absence from school.
