DECEMBER 12, 2017 REFERENDUM: VOTER EDUCATION UPDATE

On December 12, residents will be asked to vote on a bond amount equivalent to the total cost of the expansion project (approximately $24 million). The reason for this is so the district can maximize the amount of debt service aid it can receive from the State. When the aid is combined with the district's existing capital reserve funds, the total amount of the bond will be reduced to about $8 million to be paid off over the next 20 years. The annual and monthly tax impact for the two towns is illustrated in the table below.
NOVEMBER BOARD MEETING HIGHLIGHTS
The November 16 Board of Education meeting was filled once more with celebrations of student and staff achievements as we honored "Excellence in Education" displayed in its many forms.
In addition, members of our Middle School Leadership Team including, Shelley LaForgia, Ken Russo, Diane Carroll, Christine McGovern, and Barry Albert, presented an overview of the current state and future possibilities of Middle Level Education in WRSD.

Pre-Registration Opens December 1, 2017
The Westwood Regional School District will begin online kindergarten pre-registration for the 2018-2019 school year on Friday, December 1, 2017. The online registration is a pre-registration only, and students will not be considered enrolled until parents/guardians submit the required information during in-person registration in January 2018.
A child residing in the Borough of Westwood or Township of Washington who will be five (5) years old on or before October 1, 2018 is eligible to enter kindergarten. There are no exceptions to this date. To help facilitate your child’s registration, please follow this process:
- Beginning December 1, 2017 go to the district’s website at www.wwrsd.org > Find It Fast> 2018-2019 Incoming Kindergarten.
- Complete the process, review important registration procedures, and download the required forms. Registration packets may also be picked up at the Board of Education office located in the Jr./Sr. High School, 701 Ridgewood Road, Township of Washington, N.J.

Parent/Guardian Surveys for G&T and Social Studies
We are in the process of surveying parents/guardians on our Gifted and Talented programming and our K-12 Social Studies Curriculum. Please take a moment to complete these surveys by December 15, 2017. Your input is valued and appreciated. It will help shape our future programming.
