As we surpass the 100-day mark of the 2020-2021 school year, I continue to reflect on and am amazed by what the Westwood Regional School District has accomplished over the last year. Not only have we successfully embarked on a new era in public education through the implementation of our hybrid model of instruction, in August, the Board of Education also developed and formally adopted four (4) district goals that identify our key priorities for the school year in the areas of 1) Mental Health, 2) Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion 3) Quality education across learning environments, and 4) Facilities Planning.
Due to the hard work and commitment of our school staff, families, and students, we have persevered. Please take time to check out our social media postings and district goals update, so you can see how Westwood Regional School District continues to shine brightly in the face of adversity.
Thank you for your interest and continued support of our school district.
The public meeting of the Board of Education on February 25 consisted of our regular agenda. Due to the late hour, the budget worksession was postponed until Thursday, March 4.
During the meeting, Dr. Gonzalez presented a summary of the "Next Phase" reopening plans for the district to increase in-person learning opportunities safely. The presentation included overview of the guiding resources, a side-by-side comparison of the plans, and next steps. You can check out the presentation to see the details.
Each month at our public meeting of the Board of Education, our HS student representatives, Isabelle Abou-Daoud and Maximilian Wang, report out on the exciting news and activity taking place at our High School. Here's what they reported this month:
No new Board policies were approved at these meetings, however, any policies currently under review by the Board can found here and ALL final policies and regulations can be found on the district website under the Board of Education drop down menu.
