The Westwood Regional School District will soon apply for grant funds under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA). As required under ESEA, we are conducting a comprehensive needs assessment in order to determine the best use of the funds. The following stakeholder groups are being consulted: teachers, administrators, parents/guardians, aides, specialized instructional support personnel, community partners/organizations, researchers, public/private entities, institutions of higher learning, local government representatives and nonpublic schools.
Please review the options within this survey in order to let us know how you feel the money should be spent. This survey will be open until Friday, May 17, 2019. Responses are completely anonymous. Your opinion matters, so please share your input.
Please contact Jill Mortimer, Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, at jill.mortimer@wwrsd.org if you need additional information. Thank you for your participation.

The following Board policies were approved at the most recent Meeting of the Board of Education:
Buildings & Grounds / Business Office
DEPARTMENT SECRETARY
Michele Hastings has been with the district since September 2017. Prior to working for the District, she was the Director of Bells Little Learners PreSchool in Westwood for 6 years. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Stony Brook University, and holds a teaching certification in the State of Virginia where she taught Kindergarten for 3 years before moving back to New Jersey.
Michele plays a vital role in the Buildings & Grounds Department on a daily basis. Most recently she helped coordinate all of the many Spring Break projects throughout the district. She took it upon herself to make direct contact with all of the contractors and vendors involved to ensure they were prepared and still on schedule. She is involved in the whole process from helping obtain the quotes, creating the purchase order, and talking to all parties involved to schedule the work so it has the least impact
on the learning environment. Michele also played a vital role in the latest security enhancements by assisting Jon Miller.
One of the many hats that Michele also wears is working for Mr. Rosado in the Business Office. She handles tuition contracts, works with accounts payable, and many other needs in the business office.
At the January 17, 2019 meeting, the Board approved the school calendar for 2019-2020. The calendar is attached for your reference and can be found on the district website, here, along with the NJ Department of Education list of religious holidays permitting student absence from school.
