ENDING THE FIRST SHIFT WITH A BLAST
This week marks the end of my encounter with my Grade 10 Learners since I am assigned to another grade level for the next quarter. I hold my final online class. So I bid goodbye to my students. I extended my gratitude for them being with me the entire quarter. They felt sad because they won't have subject under me anymore. Same for me as well. These students were my first class, my first siblings at school, my motivation and my very reason why I fell in love with teaching.
Sadly, we have no choice but to separate ways. So to make it memorable, the final online class went emotional with them chatting me some messages of gratitude and wishes for my future endeavors. The pandemic limited their chances of talking or seeing me in person, but one thing's for sure, I know I did things which will marked on them for the rest of their lives. So for me as well.
With the same week, I also designed a summative assessment and long quiz for them to answer in their remaining MELC. After that, it were distributed for them to be answered.
The week went free from academic works, but it wasn't the reason for us to free ourselves from our commitment to service. I, along with other practice teachers decided to volunteer on the preparation for the culminating activity of Women's Month Celebration. We helped the GAD Coordinators in the preparation of virtual show. We made a program that is to be viewed by the whole community through social media platforms. We also prepared a number for the program. We showcased what practice teachers could do which by the way was a product of the friendship that was formed for being together at school no matter which institution we came from.
On the day of the culminating, teachers and staff of San Joaquin School of Fisheries gathered together for the activity. We worn purple as our way of showing support to the agenda of the women. Afterwards, we were given certificates as a way of showing appreciation to our efforts of extending support to GAD in different ways.
The week was a blast for we celebrated the end of the quarter, the culminating of women's month celebration and all the victories that the school gained recently including the granting of authority to the school on the conduct of limited face to face class.
The happiness in me is overflowing seeing my colleagues seizing the moment. I knew everybody deserves the fun and the rest from work for being truthful to their profession, for being responsible, for always keeping with them their passion to serve the people, the school and the community. And as a practice teacher, I am thankful for I have witnessed, experienced and felt all of these.
