WEEK 10

KNOWING LEARNER'S PROGRESS

To be honest, I was so attached with my practice teaching internship that I have not noticed I am nearly coming to the end of my journey. I only realized it when I read the announcement from our group chat requiring us to submit a schedule of our final teaching demonstration. I am supposed to feel pressured that time, but I was more concerned with the tasks to be complied this week.

During the Flag Ceremony, the School Principal announced the schedule of Parent-Teacher Conference and Card Day which is gonna be the week after this. So we are given time to check papers, compute grades and submit it to their respective teacher advisers.

My mentor gave me the responsibility to compute for the grades since I handled the entire quarter with my own class and with my own assessments. I was afraid of doing it, but I took the risk because I wanted to check my performance based on the remarks learners earned under my class in comparison to the previous quarter.

My mentor gave me the grade sheets of learners. I encoded the scores and observed their grades, all while preparing for my face to face classes. The moment I finished encoding the scores and their grades came out, I checked and compared the previous grades. I was glad that many students increased by points which is an indication of them performing better under me.

I submitted the grades to my mentor and he checked on it. He was glad of the changes in the performance of the students saying that I was effective for them. That major compliment gave me the energy to teach better that same week.

Friday came, we had the usual conversation with my mentor. He asked me for my progress and I also told him about the remaining weeks I have at school. We discussed about the demo teaching to be done the following week, the other itinerary of the quarter and the plans for the remaining tasks which will be transferred to his supervision the moment I will end my internship program.
