For almost 13 weeks of my teaching internship journey, I could say that the amount of changes I had with me was too much almost creating a whole new being. I have experienced all that must be experienced. I have witnessed all that must be seen. I have discovered all which I haven't knew for the long time, and I have learned so much about the reality of the teaching profession. Meaning to say, I have met the goals I have set for myself as a practice teacher.
As a recap of my internship journey, I have started as someone who thought was prepared enough to face the responsibilities of a teacher, but ended up surprised and complaining for the bulks of works that must be done. With the days passed, I have slowly became used to the works I have until I fell in love with what I am doing.
I have heard feedbacks and comments subject for my personal improvement. I've gained impressions justifying my love for teaching. If these evaluations are to be considered, yes, I have now developed the true attributes of a teacher. However, I believe that acquiring these traits and characteristics are not enough to consider myself ready for the real world of teaching. As a response, I give myself time to attend trainings and webinars that speaks on character development or anything related to teaching profession. These includes a webinar on lesson planning, online classroom rules and Best Practices Workshop, EdTech & Online Classroom Apps Workshop, and Formative and Summative Assessment Workshop.
Other than that, there were community-based trainings that I think were contributory to the roles of a teacher. These trainings include Leadership in Local Communities, The Making of a Great Leader, and Management Strategies. Though these trainings and webinars were not directly related to the teaching profession, still I find it relevant because teacher roles aren't only limited to teaching, but on school works that requires collaboration, classroom works that require management, and in keeping the ideal relationship between the students, the parents, and the rest of the school faculty. In general, these opportunities provided support and ideas to the making of a better teacher in me.
To wrap up, my internship journey provided me a holistic teaching experience resulting to the formation of a well-rounded teacher. I find myself responsible to the development of students, thus my future plans are altered. After graduation, I plan to gain experience on working from private institutions while preparing for taking my license. After having the license I will explore for more opportunities as a teacher. The plans include applying on public school, enrolling for a Master's Degree, work on curriculum planning, lesson exemplar writing or serving as a trainer for teachers development.
These plans seem to be so ambitious, but this is what my training have turned me - a visionary.
As I end this teaching internship journey, I knew there will be a lot of opportunities that would come my way, but as someone who has developed fully, I am not letting myself wait for what may come, but I am to chase for what I wish to become.
