Job Title: Sewing Internship
Salary Range: $15 an hour
FTE: 32 Hours
Reports to: Reina Estimo
Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sewing Intern to join our team. This internship offers hands-on experience working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where you can refine your skills and learn new techniques in garment construction and design. Sewing interns will become proficient in the sewing of wing dresses and ribbon shirts. They will sew these items to help support youth in the music program.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.
Assist the production team with cutting, sewing, and finishing garments.
Work with different types of fabrics, sewing machines, and tools.
Learn and apply garment construction techniques under the guidance of senior team members.
Participate in fitting sessions and assist with pattern adjustments as needed.
Contribute to the design process through idea brainstorming and technical support.
Work Location: Wynam Youth Center, 1230 Warm Springs Street
Required Certifications/Licenses
Other Skills (will be learned on the job)
Basic knowledge of sewing techniques and use of sewing machines

Work Environment
Possible exposure to airborne pathogens (e.g., COVID-19). May be required to wear personal protective equipment such as facemasks (for respiratory protection) and/or gloves.
Physical Demands
While performing this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for an extended period of time and to use hands to handle/feel objects. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, to taste or smell, to climb or balance, to stoop, kneel, or crouch.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
