Initial Setup: Before we start, please ensure that you grid settings are as follows:
Major Grid spacing: 100mm
Minor Subdivisions: 20
(This will make every small square 5mm x 5mm)
To change these at any time you can go to the 'Grids and Snaps' tool on the bottom tool bar, then 'Grid Settings'.
Step 1: Press the L key on your keyboard to enter the LINE command.
Select the side plane to start a new sketch here.
A. From where the red and green lines cross, draw a vertical line that extends 20mm (4 squares).
B. With the LINE command still selected, draw a 12mm horizontal line extending from the top of the first line.
C. Now draw a 10mm horizontal line extending down from the end of the second line.
D. Draw a further horizontal line, going left, that extends 6mm.
E. Draw a further horizontal line, going downwards, that extends 5mm.
F. Complete the shape by drawing a 6mm line, going left, that connects to the first horizontal line.
Alternatively, just copy the dimensions shown on the image on the left.
Step 2: Click on the green arrow in the top right corner of the screen to 'finish sketch'.
Step 3: Select the REVOLVE tool from the top menu. This should select the shape (profile) that you created in Step 1.
Select the AXIS, which is the red line.
Enter a value of 360 degrees.
Press OK to complete the revolve command.
The finished wheel will be 40mm in diameter, have a 20mm rebate and a 10mm bore hole to accommodate the axles.
