Step 1: To start this tutorial we will need to download a standard Ball Point Pen refill cartridge.
Click on the download icon in the top right corner to download the pattern to your downloads folder. We will use this file later.
Step 2: Go to file > Upload.
Click on 'SELECT FILES'
Find the file in your download folder.
Click on 'UPLOAD'.
Step 3: Go to Data Panel Icon
Find the Ink Refill pen file and right-click on it and select 'INSERT INTO CURRENT DESIGN'.
Step 4: Ensure all parts are in the same drawing.
Step 5: From the browser menu, select 'Body 1'.
Right-click on 'Body 1' > Go to 'Create Components from Body'
Repeat the process for 'Body 2'
Step 6: Press the J key (Hot-Key) on your keyboard to create a JOINT.
If asked, select 'Capture Position'.
Select the pen refill as shown so that the circle is centred on the shaft.
Select the top of the pen, again, so that the circle is centered.
Select the select Y plane arrow and draw the pen refill upwards until the pen nib sticks out slightly from the top of the pen.
Press OK to complete the assembly joint.
Step 7: Press the J key (Hot-Key) on your keyboard to create a JOINT.
If asked, select 'Capture Position'.
Select the top edge of the pen cap as shown.
Select the orbit tool and change your view so that you can see the bottom of the pen chamber.
Press Escape to exit the orbit tool.
Select the bottom edge of the pen chamber as shown.
Press Enter to confirm the assembly.
Step 8: Press CTRL + 8 to see the as a wireframe view with hidden edges.
You can see that this design has a thread that is too long and perhaps the design should be modified.
