“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and life to everything.” —Plato
Music is meant to be heard. Music is meant to be performed.
To perform music in public is, to many, one of the most fulfilling accomplishments. Yet, if you're in the WHS bands or jazz band, there aren't many opportunities to go out and perform. Even in those rare instances of a band, jazz, or orchestra concert, you're rarely playing music that you want to play and that you enjoy, and at the end of the day, you're always only playing for people in Weston.
Our mission is to give the musicians of WHS a way to perform music that they want to play wherever they want. You decide the difficulty, you decide the venue, and you decide the music. You want to play for trick-or-treaters on Halloween? We can arrange that. You want to play a Christmas concert at the local hospital? You got it.
Performances can count for volunteer hours.
We are trying to create a hybrid concert/jazz band, which consists of the following:
Flute
Clarinet
Alto/Tenor/Baritone Saxophone
Trumpet
Trombone
Tuba/Euphonium/Sousaphone
Piano/Keyboard
Electric/Acoustic Guitar
Electric Bass
Drumset
Any other instrument can be filled in as needed.
The first meeting will be on Thursday, the 25th, from 2:30 to 3:30. Subsequent meeting dates, officer spots, and music will be voted upon in that meeting. For those in Wind Ensemble, this can serve as your honors credit project.
Founder and President: Hanson Wang
Advisor: Mr. Brookes
Officer spots will be filled once the first meeting concludes. These positions will include vice president, secretary, treasurer, and also instrument section leaders.
