What are CIS roundtables?
Roundtables at Corporate Innovation Summit give our event partners the opportunity to position themselves as experts in their industry, meeting with a group of up to 12 attendees in a casual environment. Each roundtable is an open, live discussion on a specific topic chosen by the partner. Roundtables run for 60 minutes.
What does leading a roundtable entail?
The role of a roundtable host is to engage with a small group of attendees on a specific topic and facilitate an open and interactive conversation. All attendees should be encouraged to participate. As the moderator of the discussion, the host’s role is not to deliver a presentation on the topic, but to facilitate an environment of conversation where participants are comfortable sharing their own thoughts.
However, the host has to steer the conversation in the right direction and moderate comments where necessary to ensure the session runs smoothly.
Roundtable structure
Rountables should run for 60 minutes.
There is a maximum capacity of 12 attendees per roundtable, including the host.
The roundtable will take place in a room within CIS on Nov 13. You will be informed of the location of your roundtable room in advance of the event.
There is no need to prepare a presentation or slides in advance of the roundtable discussion. There is no AV setup provided for the roundtable.
Host should arrive at least 10 minutes prior to their dedicated Roundtable. If late, organisers will try to accommodate where possible but may not be able to facilitate depending on the event schedule.
*Please note roundtables may not be recorded. Chatham House Rules apply at Corporate Innovation Summit.
How to curate an incredible roundtable
Choose a topic that is engaging and relevant to your audience, preferably related to the four main headings that CIS focus on: Innovation, Technology, Sustainability and Future trends.
Avoid sales pitches at all costs. Attendees don’t like them and they don’t work. Roundtables are an opportunity to position yourself as an expert and brainstorm new and interesting ideas with peers.
Try to keep your synopsis short and gripping with a “hook” question underpinning it. Example: Will AI change how we do business?
Please note that roundtable titles have a 55-character limit. All content is subject to final approval from the CIS team.
