Progressive Era

Monday, February 19th

• Today, students researched sources to help them answer their social inquiry question of their choosing. Students wrote down their research and sources in their graphic organizer. They then started on a rough draft paragraph for their social inquiry question.
• HW: Finish researching sources and writing a draft paragraph for the first inquiry question, if not completed during class.

Tuesday, February 20th

• Students will research sources for their second inquiry question regarding technological advancements during the Progressive Era. They will use this research to fill in their graphic organizer section titled "“Research Findings As You Answer That Question.” Students also will fill in their sources section for the second inquiry question and begin drafting their second body paragraph based on their research.
• HW: Finish researching sources and drafting a body paragraph for your second inquiry question.

Wednesday, February 21st

• Students will work on finding research to help them answer their third inquiry question about "The Men Who Built America." Students will fill out their graphic organizer sections for research and sources. They will then begin drafting their third body paragraph based on their research.
• HW: Finish researching sources and drafting a body paragraph for your second inquiry question.

Thursday, February 22nd

• Students will begin drafting their introductory and concluding paragraphs for their Progressive Era inquiry essay. If students finish this task early they will need for Mrs. Evans or Mrs. Ainsworth to check them off to allow them to continue to write their essay into their Google Document.
• HW: Finish writing introductory and concluding paragraphs to the Progressive Era essay

Friday, February 23rd

• Students will begin copying their three body drafts and their introductory and concluding paragraphs into their Google Document. If they finish typing their essay before the period ends they should arrange for peer and teacher feedback on their document.
• HW: Finish typing through your second body paragraph if not completed during class.

Monday, February 26

• Students worked on their essays by finishing typing and obtaining peer edits.
• HW: Work on essay if needed

Tuesday, February 27th

• Students had one extra day to make final adjustments to essays. Students that finished early had enrichment activities/discussion posts on Google Classroom
• HW: None!

Wednesday, February 28th

• Students learned about immigration to the United States during the Progressive Era. Using their findings, they created narrative poems that summarized the reasons for immigrating, the journey itself, life in America, and contributions to America.
• HW: None

Thursday, March 1st

• Students finished learning about immigration to the United States during the Progressive Era. Using their findings, they created narrative poems that summarized the reasons for immigrating, the journey itself, life in America, and contributions to America. After finishing poems, students learned about the contributions of several women during the Progressive Era by reading biographical information and completing Bubble Maps.
• HW: None

Friday, March 2nd (Early Release Day)

• Students finished the Bubble Maps from the study of women. Students were also introduced to the WWI Unit.
