Students also completed an activity titled "What Does That Have To Do With Government?" to get them started thinking about how our government is set up in the United States. Students were also introduced to their government vocabulary.

Tuesday, November 7
Students completed unit notes on Government to understand the basics of how our government is run and was set up by the founding fathers of the United States.

Wednesday, November 8
Students took notes learning about the several different democratic ideals that make up our government.

Thursday, November 9
Students finished completing their notes about the democratic ideals and evaluated primary sources through what they know about democratic ideals. Students completed a three branches of government chart using the America Journey textbook.
HW: Finish 3 branches chart if needed
Friday, November 10: NO SCHOOL - Veterans Day Holiday
As a special reminder, students will be asked to recite or write the Preamble to the Constitution. This will be done through CAT from Tuesday, November 14th through Monday, November 20th.
Monday, November 13
Today, completed notes on what the Preamble means as a class. HW: Study for Government Vocabulary Quiz tomorrow! Begin learning Preamble to recite in CAT over the next 5 school days.
Tuesday, November 14
Students took their Government Vocabulary Quiz. Students watched a video about Checks and Balances and completed the Checks and Balance Chart. Students also started a Democratic Ideals through Current Events Activity where they read current events and identified with Democratic Ideals were being shown through the event. HW: Study for Government Quest (DOUBLE MINOR GRADE) Friday!
Wednesday, November 15
Students took notes on the Bill of Rights and acted out skits about the different amendments and what they each mean. HW: Study for Government Quest (DOUBLE MINOR GRADE) Friday!
Thursday, November 16
Students went through a chart together as a class about how a bill becomes a law and completed a manipulatives activity showing their understanding. HW: STUDY FOR QUEST TOMORROW! Use study guide!
Friday, November 17
Students took their Government Quest (Double Minor Assessment Grade) and worked on Democratic Ideals through Current Events assignment. HW: None!
Monday, November 20
Students participated in part of the Geography Bee. As they were participating in the Bee, students worked on Citizens Rights and Responsibilities. Homework: None
Tuesday, November 21
We had a modified schedule due to the Early Release. Students continued the Geography Bee and watched Planet Earth. HW: Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Break!
Monday, November 27-Wednesday, November 29: Students worked together in class to create props and movements to a music video on New Government. HW: Study for your Government Test!
Thursday, November 30: Students recorded their music videos and reviewed for their Government Unit Test. HW: STUDY!
Friday, December 1: Students took their New Government Unit Test. Upon completion, we watched other class music videos and voted for our favorites! HW: None!
