The students will continue to learn about forces and motion.
Essential Question: How does Newton's 3rd Law relate to force pairs and collisions.
Next week the students will be researching, designing, and testing a vehicle that minimizes the forces of a collision to protect and egg.
Reading
Mathematics
Algebra:
Students are in the midst of graphing in slope-intercept form and making connections between other types of lines (parallel/perpendicular) as well as Standard Form and Slope-Intercept Form equations.
Pre-Algebra:
Students are continuing their work with Special Solutions of equations. They will work on Literal Equations soon and take their Equations Assessmetn on Wednesday, October 25th!
Reading/Writing
Reading: Students will spend time this week doing more practice with Notice and Note strategies of Aha Moment and Tough Questions. We worked extensively on vocabulary and students shared their vocabulary models. We did more practice with vocabulary using Google practice sets and freerice.com.
Writing:
This week, we will start writing our body paragraph for a literary analysis essay after our Socratic Seminar on Thursday. Students will also work on more work with complex sentences.
History
We finished our surface level success criteria for our American Indian Projects. Students should be able to describe their tribes; historical region, significant dates of change, conflict and cooperation with others, dependence and survival on land as well as describe the impact of historical artifcats of their tribe. Next week students will think about the deeper impact of these concenpts and how they interact with each other. Ultimately they will design a product to present their learning to class.
