Mathematics
Algebra & Pre-Algebra:
Students took the iReady benchmark assessment to start our journey with math. Students are going to take the iReady 3 total times this year, showing growth.
We have also started taking notes over the Real Number System, learning how to classify different types of numbers.
Reading/Writing
Reading: We have been working on building reading routines in class. Students should read 20 minutes/night. In addition, we are working on viewing videos and reading texts to learn about literary analysis.
Writing: We have been working on classroom expectations and writing those for the grade level. We have reviewed figurative language and we will review parts of speech. On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will take iReady. Students should have their computers charged and bring their chargers to school.
History
Our daily bell ringer asks students to agree or disagree with statements and they are prompted to provide evidence and connect it with reasoning. Students have expressed wonderful ideas and opinions so far this year.
Our class examined a lunch fight scenario to help us understand perspective, souring, point of view, bias, historical context and corroboration. Next we focuses on how historians use these tools to try and create the most accurate version of truth.
