Algebra:
Students are learning about Systems of Linear Equations (and Inequalities) and how to solve them in 3 ways. We're wrapping up Graphing through a Ski Resort Project and will be moving on to Substitution. This chapter is a great way to review all of the graphing and equation skills that we've been working on all year.
Pre-Algebra:
Students have learned how to find slopes of parallel and perpendicular lines, how to graph horizontal and vertical lines, as well as reviewed Proportional Relationships and Unit Rates (a 7th grade standard) to prepare for more graphing!
Reading/Writing
Reading:
Students worked on writing a literary analysis essay for "Limetown." We will read short story and write a literary analysis essay as a midyear benchmark.
Writing:
Students made a plot diagram to organize their writing for their traditions personal narrative. Students began their draft of their narrative. We will finish these by Friday, December 1st and then begin the publication part of the process to create picture books.
History
Students are learning about Life in the Colonies. Topics we are covering: Rights and Laws, Legal Systems, Enlightenment, Slavery, Triangle Trade, Mercantilism, Transatlantic Slave Trade, The Southern Colonies, Taxation, Monopolies, Corporations, Plantation System, Slave Codes, Middle Passage, American Identities, Great Awakening, and the overall impact of time and space between the colonies and the home countries.
