Algebra:
Students are wrapping up our Systems unit by graphing Linear Inequalities. Students will soon shift to Functions, specifically exponential and absolute value shortly. They will not only be graphing straight lines but other types of graphs!
Pre-Algebra:
Students are wrapping up our graphing chapter, but this skill will not go away. We will start with Functions, which has similar attributes to our graphing chapter.
Reading/Writing
Reading:
We are working on Notice and Note Strategies for Informational Text. Students are reading a story with a partner to work on practicing these skills. We will start a podcast soon called Cellphones Rock to practice using the strategies.
Writing:
Students just finished their traditions narrative rough drafts. Their final drafts are due Tuesday. They will have received feedback on their rough drafts from me and feedback from peers as well. We will begin creating our picture books.
History
Students are learning about Life in the Colonies. Topics we are covering: Rights and Laws, Legal Systems, Enlightenment, Slavery, Triangle Trade, Mercantilism, Transatlantic Slave Trade, The Southern Colonies, Taxation, Monopolies, Corporations, Plantation System, Slave Codes, Middle Passage, American Identities, Great Awakening, and the overall impact of time and space between the colonies and the home countries.
