Algebra:
Students are finalizing their Graphing Linear Equations chapter by writing equations from a slope and point. This is an algebraic process that does not actually include graphing. They will have their next assessment on Wednesday, November 8th.
Pre-Algebra:
Students are start their graphing unit. We are reviewing skills based on evaluating expressions and making T-Charts to graph a straight line! Students will learn about slope next, which is about the steepness of a line.
Reading/Writing
Reading: We have been listening to a podcast titled Limetown during class. Students are enjoying listening to this suspenseful story. We will continue listening this week, answer questions, play a game called Zinger, and work on vocabulary from the podcast. Soon, we will write a literary analysis response to the podcast after we conduct a Socratic Seminar.
Writing:
We finished our literary anaylis unit and turned in our summative piece on Friday of last week. We will start a narrative writing unit on Traditions. Students will write a narrative about a tradition and create a picture book. These books will be on display in the elementary and secondary libraries. In addiion, students may choose to read their stories to other classes if they wish.
History
We began our study of the Salem Witch Trials. We began with a classroom simulation. Then we read and summarized the background of Salem. We evaluated the 5 most important aspects of the trial and looked through four different primary sourced documents to better understand life in Salem.
