Science
The students will continue to learn about forces and motion.
Essential Question: How do units and direction describe position and motion.
Objective: Students will explore how to describe the position and motion of an object. They will analyze data including graphs to help construct and present arguments about the changes over time in the motions of objects.
Reading
Mathematics
Algebra:
Students are working on graphing linear equations with t-charts and reviewing concepts of slope!
Pre-Algebra:
Students are working hard on solving multi-step equations with variables on both sides. We are also introducing different types of solutions, like no solution or infinitely many.
Reading/Writing
Reading: Students will spend time this week doing more practice with Notice and Note strategies of Aha Moment and Tough Questions. We worked extensively on vocabulary and students shared their vocabulary models. We did more practice with vocabulary using Google practice sets and freerice.com.
Writing:
This week, we will start writing our body paragraph for a literary analysis essay after our Socratic Seminar on Thursday. Students will also work on more work with complex sentences.
History
We finished our surface level success criteria for our American Indian Projects. Students should be able to describe their tribes; historical region, significant dates of change, conflict and cooperation with others, dependence and survival on land as well as describe the impact of historical artifcats of their tribe. Next week students will think about the deeper impact of these concenpts and how they interact with each other. Ultimately they will design a product to present their learning to class.
