The students will continue to learn about forces and motion.
Essential Question: How do units and direction describe position and motion.
Objective: Students will explore how to describe the position and motion of an object. They will analyze data including graphs to help construct and present arguments about the changes over time in the motions of objects.
Reading
Mathematics
Algebra:
Student are working on solving multi-step equations, reviewing what they learned last year. We will be working on inequalities next!
Pre-Algebra:
Students are working with numbers in the Real Number System, as well as approximating them on a number line. We will be having our first quiz of the year on Wednesday, September 13th!
Reading/Writing
Reading: Students finished their first Vocabulary test. We will start new words next week. This week's test was was a formative, their next Vocabulary test will be a summative. In addition, we will continue to work on Notice and Note Reading Strategies, but now use those with short stories instead of video clips. Students should be reading 20 minutes a night.
Writing:
Students will spend time this week reviewing using interrupters (or extra information) in complex sentences. Students finished a formative assessment on writing an introduction of a literary analysis essay, and next week we will work more on writing claims and body paragraphs.
History
This week we spent learning about conflict and cooperation between European Colonists, Americans and American Indians. We read a primary source about Chief Joseph as well as spend time learning about similarities and differences between American culture and American Indian cultures.
