This students are starting their module (unit) on forces and motion.
Reading
Mathematics
Algebra:
Student are working on solving multi-step equations, reviewing what they learned last year. We will be working on inequalities next!
Pre-Algebra:
Students are working with numbers in the Real Number System, as well as approximating them on a number line. We will be having our first quiz of the year on Wednesday, September 13th!
Reading/Writing
Reading: Students are continuing to work on Notice and Note strategies to be able to complete a literary analysis of a text. This week, we learned a vocabulary game called Roll a Word. Students have 10 words and we will have our test on Thursday. We will begin doing practice questions in class. Students should be reading 20 minutes a night.
Writing:
Students are working on finishing up our chapter 6.1 of Patterns of Power. We are beginning to write complex sentence. Also, students are continuing to work on learning the steps of writing a literary analysis. We are finishing up the introduction piece and will now move on to the body paragraphs.
History
We began looking back to the first people who inhabited North and South America. We discussed various theories of how people spread to each continent. Then we spent time discussing migration and the push and pull factors that exist. Students were given time to think and talk about ancient and modern migrations.
