The Future Diary

Went into this anime with very little knowledge other than it has diaries that tell the future and that it was supposed to be a masterpiece of an anime. In the end, I see why I was told so. Episode 26’s ending gave me the same vibes as the ending of darling in the franxx, as everything it resolved but it still feels bittersweet. The OVA ending was pretty lazy but made the bittersweet feeling go away. I like how they did this with the OVA so that the “Canon” ending or whatever is still creative but you don’t feel as depressed because you have another ending to look at. Kinda like the Emergence comic. 

A few complaints though. So, which one of you fuckers in the anime studio is the pedophile? All of you? A couple of you? Anywho yeah way too much nudity, alot of it being underaged, random rape scenes, LITERALLY WHY IS EVERYONE NAKED AT RANDOM MOMENTS anywho yeah alot of slice of life episodes or partially slice of life episodes for seemingly no reason. You don’t really see that in stuff like Demon Slayer or Darling in the Franxx, so it just felt out of place. 

Overall, this anime did it’s job right. It hit alot of key elements well that I look for in animes. Great characters, great ending, super intense, very interesting, and overall was entertaining. I will also comment on the sheer amount of deaths and gore, with multiple hands being chopped off and countless stab wounds. Just made me a bit uncomfortable but honestly it only added to the show being so blatant with its deaths. It reminds me of akame ga kill, but akame ga kill didnt make up for its shitty ending unlike Future Diary. THATS why its low on the list. Honestly Akame Ga Kill could have been super high on my list but it just has such a terrible, unsatisfying ending. Akame ga kill just leaves the characters dead, while Future diary gives everyone a future in a new timeline. Again, reminds me of Darling in the Franxx and Bunny girl senpai in a way with the new timeline and the memory fusing. Overall, really good, met my expectations and really honestly exceeded them with that ending. I was really hoping the ending wouldn’t be horse balls but it was really good.

Yeah this isn't as good as I remember it being. Yukki is a terrible main character, I don't know how I didn't notice this in my first watch. He makes stupid decisions, is completely blind to his father's actions, and it doesn't even stop at Yukki. Countless other characters just don't feel like real people and make NPC decisions to accelerate the story. Akise is the only smart character in the show.

I will say I did enjoy the visuals and the fights when they did happen. The music was pretty cool, but there is that one "spooky" stock sfx they always use which is funny.

I once again enjoyed the yuno plot twist, and the last arc in general was really cool with the third world. Definitely the peak of the show and is the only reason this anime is as high as it is.

The anime ending was actually quite acceptable to me this time around. The OVA felt much more of an asspull to me now, but it is indeed a happier ending and I am fine with both endings honestly. Overall, this show is worse than I remember. The characters pissed me off so much this time around, and the nudity is so unecessary. This show is rly weird and poorly written sometimes.
